여러분 오늘 MBC애서 마감뉴스가 끝난 다음에 MBC 프라임 꼭 시청해 주세요.
3개월이 넘게 아이들과 함께한 프로젝트 속에서 무슨 일들이 있었는지 보실 수 있어요.
제가 TV가 없어서 뮤뮤스쿨 식구들이 어떻게 나올지 무척 궁금해지네요.
시간상으로는 수요일 00:20 분이구요 화요일 자정을 넘겨서 시작한답니다.

도시의 아이들은 너무 바쁘다...  그 아이들에게 놀이는 예술은 사치다.

도시의 아이들에게 예술교육은 대학진학을 위한 도구 그 이상도 이하도 아닌 현실...

아이들의 상상이 꿈이 되고 희망이 되고 예술이 된다라는 말은 헛된 구호일뿐일까?

 

2001년 가을, 예민은 음악을 통한 자연과 사람의 만남을 시도했다.
자신이 가수인지도 모르는 초등학교 아이들을 위해서 특별한 음악회를 계획하고 먼 길을 떠났다.

그것도 작은 섬, 산골 오지라고 부를 만큼 외진 분교만을 찾아다니며 130여회의 분교음악회를 열었다.
 
그리고 2009년 그는 도심의 한 복판에서 새로운 도전에 나선다.
산골 분교아이들보다 도심속 아이들의 문화적 빈곤이 더욱 심화되고 있다는 사실은 충격이었다.


교육을 진행하며 가장 어려운 작업이 아이들을 모으는 일이었다는 웃지못할 현실에서 아이들의 상상을 일깨우는

어린이 예술 창작학교의 90일간의 이야기를 통해 한국 예술교육의 현실과 방향성을 모색하고자 한다.

"세상에 단 하나뿐인 나만의 악기로 세상의 모든 것들과 소통을 한다"

다소 황당하고 엉뚱한 이야기처럼 들리지 모르겠지만 상상을 현실로 만들어낸 25명의 어린이 이야기가

"세상에 단 하나"를 통해 소개된다.

 

'산골 소년의 사랑 이야기' '아에이오우'등 우리에게 익숙한 노래의 주인공인 가수이자 작곡가 예민과

한국문화예술교육진흥원이 도시 아이들을 위한 예술 교육의 일환으로 마련한

'아르떼 어린이예술창작학교-Only one'은

어린이들이 직접 세상에 하나뿐인 나만의 악기를 만드는 프로젝트다.


9년간 전국의 산골마을 섬마을을 찾아다니며 180회가 넘는 분교음악회를 열어온 예민은

어린이들의 상상력과 창의성을 살리고 음악의 본질을 일깨우기위해 창작악기 교실을 기획했다.

 

어린이들의 미래에 대한 자신감은 창작에서 나온다는 그의 신념을 실천으로 옮긴 것이다.

이번 프로젝트는 그 연장선상에 있지만 공간적 배경이 도시로 옮겨졌고 내용 또한 보다 체계적으로 준비되었다.

 

그러나 어른보다 더 바쁜 도시 아이들을 모으고 장소를 마련하는 것 부터 쉽지 않은 일 이었다.

그러나 어렵게 마포구 성산단지와 강서구 가양단지에서 40여명으로 지난 9월 15일부터 시작한

'아르떼 어린이예술창작학교-Only one'은 도시 아이들의 잠자던 상상력을 마음껏 깨우는 시간이 되었다.

 

거북이 등껍데기, 지관, 타조 가죽등 아이들이 상상한 모든 것들이 악기의 재료로 등장하고 4주에 걸쳐

매주 토요일과 일요일 하루 10시간 넘는 강행군 속에 아이들이 세상에 하나뿐인 악기를 만들어냈다.

 

룸바라빠, 물의 거북, 레인캔, 도어기타, 워터플루트…. 아이들은 자신이 직접 설계하고 제작한 악기들의 이름을

세상에 알렸다.


그러나 이 프로그램은 단지 아이들의 악기 만들기 과정 소개에 머물지 않는다. 창작악기 만들기에 나선 아이들의

사연과 어른들은 상상하지 못할 아이들의 기막힌 상상력에 눈높이를 맞추고 있다.

 

행복이라는 이름으로 소중하게 기억될 도시 아이들의 꿈과 희망 이야기는

8일 밤 12시 25분 MBC프라임 "세상에 단 하나"를 통해 만날 수 있다.
